DRM prevents downloading but cannot stop someone recording the screen or filming it with a camera, and it cannot say who leaked a copy. Watermarking fills both gaps: it discourages capture and identifies the source afterward.
For course and membership platforms, visible dynamic watermarking is usually the higher-leverage choice; media and studios add forensic watermarking for pre-release and premium tiers.
