DRM Playback Compatibility Chart for VdoCipher Secure Streaming

A summary of most recommended browsers to play videos followed by a detailed explanation and chart.
Please try playback only in the below recommended browsers for any device-

1. Desktop/Laptop(Windows, Mac, Linux) - Updated Chrome & Firefox on desktop most recommended browsers on Desktop.
OS should be updated to best possible versions. If a message shows on player to upgrade browser/OS, please first update your Chrome/Firefox.

2. Android -  In latest updated chrome (Supported only for Android OS>5). If it does not play in chrome (it can happen due to DRM compatibility issue) , then try playing in chrome incognito Window or Firefox and it will play via our zenplayer app.
So, first try Chrome, then Chrome incognito/Firefox.

3. IOS - Updated Safari is required. (Supported only for IOS version >11).

Here at VdoCipher our core strength is our highly secure DRM encryption and licensing technology. Thousands of customers across the globe trust our technology to prevent privacy. No downloader or hack will work against our system. However, the high security systems in place may occassionally run into compatibility issues on some browsers.

Talking of compatibility, there is a reason why Netflix does not play in mobile phone browsers. Netflix also is not supported on apps in some phones which do not have the required security compatibility, and Netflix does not provide HD videos on most devices because of security reasons.

Our aim is that all viewers should have at least one very good option to watch videos in whichever device they have. Indeed, we are currently much more compatible than Netflix in our support of different platforms.

Windows Edge & IE Flash plays well in Edge for all cases. IE not supported.  HTML5 security with Playready DRM will be released in around 6 months time.
Windows Other browsers Opera plays HTML5 with Google Widevine DRM, Other require flash.  We don’t plan to add any support for non main browsers.

Macbook Safari Flash is required in default integration. HTML5 Fairplay DRM is possible for express or higher accounts & custom apple license. Kindly contact us. Html5 in safari with some special requirements (including an apple license) is possible. Has to be custom setup for each account. Kindly contact us.
Macbook Other browsers Flash, Faces issues sometimes. We don’t plan to add any support for non main browsers

Android Chrome HTML5 with Google Widevine DRM on majority devices, zenplayer app for 2% users. Not supported for < Android version 5. Will improve html5 support to include wider range of devices.
Android Firefox Will play via our zenplayer app (will prompt viewer to install it first time form playstore automatically) Widevine DRM is not possible with android non-chrome browsers.
Android Client App Native or React Native HTML5 with Widevine DRM. Also has Offline support > Android 5 versions Will release more features on player to online and offline app html5 playback. Compatibility Support always on improvement.
Android Client App (Ionic, Phonegap etc) Not Supported Cant support DRM encryption for ionic/phonegap apps.

IOS Chrome HTML5 with proprietary encrypted technology, issues in 1% cases. Apple Fairplay DRM doesn't work with Chrome on IOS.
IOS Safari HTML5 with proprietary encrypted technology/Fairplay DRM, issues in 1% cases. Most issues go on refreshing browser. Default plays proprietary encrypted stream. Fairplay DRM on IOS safari has some special requirements (including an apple license). Also requires Value or higher plan. Has to be custom setup for each account. Kindly contact us.
IOS Client App Native HTML5 with proprietary encrypted technology/Apple Fairplay DRM, issues in 1% cases.  Default plays proprietary encrypted stream. Fairplay DRM on IOS app has some special requirements (including an apple license). Has to be custom setup for each account. Kindly contact us for Fairplay DRM.
